A UFODAP PROJECT

Turning UFOs into IFOs,
one photon at a time.

Detect • Measure • Triangulate • Track • Image • Identify

An experimental observational project using distributed wide-field cameras, automated tracking, triangulation and narrow-field imaging to collect better evidence about objects moving through the sky.

MISSION

The goal isn't to find UFOs.
The goal is to eliminate them.

A UFO is not an explanation. It is an observation that has not yet been identified.

UFO → IFO is built around a simple idea: better evidence produces better answers. The project seeks to collect enough reliable information to identify observed aerial objects whenever the evidence allows. Aircraft, satellites, drones, balloons, meteors and other explainable objects should become IFOs. Anything that cannot be reliably identified remains unidentified—a question, not an answer.

THE SYSTEM

Wide finds narrow.

SCOUTS

Wide-field detection

Fixed cameras monitor large areas of sky and detect moving targets.

MISSION CONTROL

Coordinate the observation

UFODAP receives observations, combines information and coordinates target handoff.

INTERCEPTOR

Narrow-field acquisition

A steerable camera can be directed toward a Scout target for a closer observation.

CURRENT STATUS

Building the system one test at a time.

Tower A — Online

Tower A is now running the publicly released version of UFODAP Master Control following completion of our preliminary testing and submission of our test report. The corresponding updated OTDAU public release is still pending. Scout-to-Interceptor handoff behavior has been tested as development continues. The next major phase is expansion toward multi-station operation and triangulation.

Capabilities described as planned or under development should not be read as completed demonstrations. Project status will be updated as testing establishes what the system can reliably do.

EVENT ARCHIVE

The evidence will live here.

COMING SOON

Documented observation reports

As events are captured, each case can include the available camera video, still images, track information, relevant sensor data, analysis, competing explanations and a conclusion supported by the evidence.

A conclusion may be an identification, a ranked set of plausible explanations, or simply unidentified when the available evidence is insufficient.

EVIDENCE STANDARD

Preserve first.
Interpret second.
Conclude last.

We do not begin with an answer and search for evidence to support it. We preserve what the instruments captured, examine the available data, compare plausible explanations and allow the conclusion to change when better evidence becomes available.

Don't manufacture detail the instruments didn't capture. Don't manufacture facts the evidence didn't establish.

PROJECT PRINCIPLES

Evidence before conclusion

Observations are evaluated according to what the data establishes, not what we hope an object will turn out to be.

Unidentified is valid

Insufficient evidence is not an invitation to invent an answer. Some observations may remain unidentified.

Conclusions can change

New evidence can strengthen, weaken or eliminate an explanation. The project will document those changes rather than defend an outdated conclusion.
